Weird problem: Stinky smelling kit!

hmm, didn't know that. although I haven't experienced anything like melting. don't know what these are made of. looks like plain ole plastic. I have Tamiya products and just tried some on extra plastic part - doesn't seem to effect it! maybe this isn't styrene type. idono! how do I tell if it's styrene or?

When I saw the topic heading, I immediately flashed back to the first handful of Matchbox kits that came into my possession. Peeeeeee-uuuuuuuuwwwwwww!!!

I don't know what type of clear plastic they were using to "shrink-wrap" the boxes but the smell alone was enough to gag a person......even BEFORE the modeler got to see the famed "trenchlike" recessed panel lines!!

you can send them to me and i'll deal with the stink.

Maybe we are talking about different Lysol spray...

Mine is a disenfectant spray in a metal can. Yellow painted can.

Whatever they are using for the carrier liquid (the inert ingredient) is some sort of solvent. If you spray on styrene or acrylic it starts attacking it on contact. Mine is few years old - maybe they've changed the formula?
