Why does it take so long for a post to appear?

USENET posts take as long to appear as they take. Perhaps a server id sown somewhere, or perhaps the posts are being propagated along a different path today, or perhaps there's a cancelstorm being attempted by some deranged scrtipt kiddie, or perhaps it's the way the planets are aligned. Who knows?
