if you often depend on support by your var or by SW, you should stay with the latest certified driver. Otherwise they will blame every little problem on the not suupported driver and refuse to help. If you experience graphic related problems you should try the latest driver from your gpu vendor. Going with the latest available drivers you will mostly experience a faster framerate and better performance although this might never be a big issue when working with sluggish SW. ;-)
