Editorial aside: we typically don't use depth of field blur because it has become a cliche' in renderings (and is not evident in most quality product photography, the willimas sonoma catalog not withstanding). It has become like lens flare a few years ago... it is an almost sure-fire tip-off that it is a computer rendered product. Depth of field blur DOES have some valid compositional uses to direct the eye to something important, but it needs to be used carefully, deliberatley, and, perhaps, rarely.
