for drawings and a side profilei. how do you show a segmented line for where the hole is?

I think what you want is "hidden lines visible". Select the drawing view that has the hidden detail you want to show, then on the property manager under display style select "hidden lines visible" button. If that shows up to many hidden edges, you can highlight the edges that you don't want to see then right click and choose "hide edge".
