Re: Mouse Gestures

I used to use stroke macros in Vellum. They were very cool and could never understand why other programs didn't pick up on them..... Never mind, now I use SWX and kinda like the one key short cuts.

Thanks tor the tip Markus, I'll give strokeit at try.

Hmmm 'strokeit from Markus Wankus'.. yer not 'pullin' a leg' are you?

For those of you who don't know what I am talking about - these programs > allow you to assign commands to drawing patterns with the mouse. You hold > down the right mouse button and draw a letter or symbol, and you can define > it to execute a macro, or zoom in, etc. If you set it up right it is a > HUUUGE timesaver (for me anyway). If you have all of your keyboard > shortcuts set up, you can assign them all directly to mouse gestures.

Yeah - I started out with good ole' 2D CIMCAD on Unix. The whole program was based on mouse gestures and they were absolutely awesome. Not to mention construction lines... I still don't understand why companies don't use good concepts like these. There must be patent issues.

Markus Did you get my email requesting your SolidWorks config file? I am also an ex CIMCAD user, these strokes brought back memories. Regards Pete

Yeah - I sent it to your home address last night. I just sent you another email to both addresses.

I am only around and working in the evenings (I have an alter ego during the day) so that is when I tend to post and respond. That or first thing in the morning...

Sorry - i am using Win2K. Hmmm...what graphics card? It seems people are having trouble getting the first command set up. It isn't as straightforward as say, Sensiva.

I have exported a simple Solidworks configuration with a few gestures assigned to menus I defined in Solidworks. It seems to help to import it as a starting point. You can find it here:

For those of you I may have sent this to already - I figured out how to use the menus directly so no hotkey setup is required in Solidworks at all.

Hope it helps. The other option (if the company is paying) is to buy Sensiva

It is a little more full-featured, but - it costs money...
