saving over others

does anyone know of a utility (or process) to prevent more than one person from opening the same file? that way work is not saved over.

thanks.

That's one of the nice things you get from a PDM system.

DBWorks - Have a word with your VAR as Mechworks is a partner.

It is italian, so it can be flimsy and temperemental.

But good on the whole, as long as they fix the batch plot utility soon.

PDMworks is the best answer to that. It's pretty inexpensive.

You could also check the option to "open referenced documents as read only". that way you can work on assemblies while someone else works on subassemblies and parts. you can then select "reload" and uncheck "read only" if you need access to a particular part or subassy.

But compared to PDMworks this is a ghetto method of doc sharing.
