SolidWorks accuracy

SW2004 4.1 I'm able to create a line 0.0001 mm long. However, I can't dimension it's length, but I can dimension it's 2 endpoints from the origin. I suspect the reason I can't directly dimension it's length is because of the dimension extension and leader line settings, they would overlap. Best Regards, Devon T. Sowell

I don't think so. If you draw a triangle (rectangle) with one side .0001mm long, and dimension the opposite side by an angle on the hypothenuse, you get an error if one side goes under .0001 mm.

Must be a built-in safeguard...

There are limits in SW as to how big or small a feature can be. I think .0000001M is about the limit. I think you can go 1000M centered about the origin to .0000001M. It has been like that from the beginning.

you can dimesion it using the api if you zoom in 1st. i would zoom to the bounding box of the line. then dimension it. the dimensioning api is screen rez sensitive.
