Solidworks and Metalsoft ??

May 20, 2004 4 Replies

Supposed to be a gold partner. I just got the version 9 Winfab. I think its

9...brand new from VAR. You are supposed to be able to bring Solidworks flat pattern right in to Winfab...I cant for the life of me find anything in the manual or the program on how to do this. Besides going to training, any ideas for help or tutorial ??? Thanks, Jake Barron

Jake,

If it's a Gold program, it run "inside" of Solidworks. There's usually a check box in "tools - add ins" to turn things on and off. Some Gold programs have both stand alone and imbedded versions that can run on the same machine.

If you have to transfer the file, or if launching the add in opens a seperate non SW window, It's not Gold

Mark

You have to have Solidworks and Metalsoft open. Open the part in Solidworks that you want to bring into Metalsoft(Fabriwin)then go to the main menu on Metalsoft(top of the screen)and open the drop-down menu for Modules and click on the OLE Integration option and the part should appear in Fabriwin shortly.

Good luck

Javier

Im running an older version of Fabriwin/MetalSoft, and to bring in a part, (making sure I have the "full menus" enabled), I click "Modules", then "OLE Integration".

Im sure things are different with the newer version, but maybe this could help.

I said Winfab. Glad you guys knew what I was talking about. Fabriwin !! OK...Then I guess I dont need any type of translator. Our Solidworks VAR told us it cannot be done. But I know they are a partner, so I figured it was possible just with what we had. I havnt had a chance to call Metalsoft yet, so I guess I now have my answers. Thanks alot guys...Jake Barron
