XP2 SP2

Sep 22, 2004 5 Replies

We had apparent troubles with XP2 this morning.

  1. A user tried to upgrade from 2004 SP4.1 to SP4.2 and the WI complained that it couldn't find the MSI file even though it was visible on his install CD.

  1. The same user had some kind of problem finding and saving certain SW files in an assembly.

Solidworks does not support XP SP2 until Solidworks 2004 SP5.0 or SOlidworks 2005 SP1.0

No way around the issue that you are seeing (as far as I know). You will have to roll back to XP SP1.0 for now untill the solidworks patches are available.

Our IT downloaded a VB Script from MS that can set a registry setting that should keep your group from doing this. He was able to add to my registry over the network. It still says it wants to install the update but as I understand it shouldn't be able to.

Thanks. You wouldn't happen to know the reference to that file would you?

Here is the MS TechNet article

formatting link
explains everything and I believe the script link is at the bottom.
