Digitrax DS64 AUX power trouble

Hello all.

I am currently entering DCC and I am trying to hook up a Digitrax DS64 to my Tortoise turnout machines. Running the DS64 off track power puts

19.5 volts on the outputs, which I assume will fry the Tortoises, so I connected a 12V supply via the AX1 and AX2 inputs on the DS64. According to the DS64 manual, the turnout outputs should now be 12V, but they're still 19.5 volts. What am I doing wrong, or what have I forgotten?

(Yes, the 12V supply is on ;-))

Oh hey, the track power overrides the AUX supply, so I need to power the DS64 from 12V AUX and not connect the track power. The DS64 must be controlled by Loconet to make this work. Allright :-)

That unit, the DS64, won't work with Tortise machines. It is too highly rated and will short your switch machines out so select a different source than that unit.

-- I hope that in a few years it [Wikipedia] will be so bloated that it will simply disintegrate, because I can't stand the thought that this thing might someday actually be used as a serious reference source. Because in its current form, it's not to be taken seriously at all.

Two things:

a) I had all kinds of problems with my DS-64s when they were hooked up to track power. Instead, I'm using dedicated transformser from Radio Shack that I can st to the exact voltage required and they work great.

b) My DS-64s work just fine with my Tortoises.
