sponsoring an excursion train from several locations in the Washington / Baltimore area to Cumberland, MD for a ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, Saturday, November 12, 2005.
(PRWEB) October 31, 2005 -- On Saturday, November 12, 2005 the Washington DC Chapter, National Railway Historical Society will be operating an Excursion Train from the Washington / Baltimore area to Cumberland for a ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.
Passenger boarding locations include: Dorsey MARC Station, Silver Spring MARC Station, and Rockville MARC Station.
Enjoy a scenic excursion on a restored early 20th century steam train that will take you on a round trip through the mountains between Cumberland and Frostburg as you enjoy three centuries of transportation history.
Our trip on the Western Maryland will include a photo run by at Helmstetter's Curve. A favorite photo spot; Helmstetter's Curve is a 1/2 mile arc that sweeps across Cash Valley, looking very much as it did in the hey-day of steam railroading.
This excursion is THE LAST major main line excursion that the Washington DC Chapter, National Railway Historical Society will operate in 2005! Do not miss this opportunity to enjoy what is one of the best public rail excursions available in the Mid Atlantic area. This is also an excellent opportunity to show support for the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad which is facing a major change in the financial support that it has been receiving from the Maryland Department of Transportation. The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad features main line steam.
Tickets are still available for this excursion. Additionally, a limited number of tickets are available for First Class accommodations on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad train. All tickets will include a light Continental Breakfast, as well as the noon and evening meals. The train from the Baltimore/Washington area to Cumberland will be all-coach seating. Upon transfer to the Western Maryland Scenic in Cumberland, several different levels of service will be offered.
Special Pricing is available for groups of 15 or more people.
Tickets can be ordered online at: www.dcnrhs.org. More information can be obtained by phone at 703-273-8440. *********************************************************** Stans Railpix railphotoexpress.com Store. !! http://www.cafepress.com/stans_railpix
