AV1 Series II Genny

Picked up a decent-looking little genny yesterday, it's a Petters AV1 Series II with a thumping great separately-excited alternator on it, driven by three V belts.

At this rate we'll need a new factory to house it all! :-))

Collected it on Saturday after delivering some repaired kit to one of our rail customers at Stourbridge. The generator was about 1 mile away from where we delivered :-))

Got it out of the van today, and broke it into handleable pieces, although the alternator possibly weighs more than the engine....

The engine is fine, needs the fuel filter bracket welding up, but that's about all, and the radiator core needs blowing through to clear out the dirt etc that has accumulated.

The alternator is a bit unusual, in that it is a 6-pole 1000rpm unit, not a

4-pole 1500rpm unit, so the engine pulley is smaller than the alternator pulley to reduce the speed (engine is 1500rpm)

It's the first small 6-pole machine I have come across, and I wonder who made it, there is absolutely nothing on it anywhere to indicate make or specification.

The baseplate is fabricated steel, and will go for shot blasting etc., the rest of it is fairly serviceable as it is.
