Well, had a good day at Barleylands (and only got marginally damp!). A particularly good show for unusual and relatively rare engines this year. Unfortunately my Webshots seems to be playing up so until I can resolve the problems I can't post the pics. I'll let you know as soon as I fix it.
The tractor pulling (not something I'm usually over enamored with) was quite interesting this year in that in addition to the usual Chevy V8's producing several squillion horse power was an 11 cylinder radial engined device that was slightly ineffectual because he had *only* 1000 HP at his disposal and what appeared to be a Rolls Royce V10 powered thing (it definitely had 10 exhaust pipes and Rolls Royce cast into the cam covers, although being a bit green on these things I thought the RR V10 was a new BMW related thing - 600 HP that just would not cut the mustard!) Unfortunately it failed completely because he couldn't get the thing 'on cam' - a bit of a shame as I was nearly wetting myself at the prospect of it going at full chat down the runway. It has to be said that however odd the concept the of tractor pulling may be to some of us, the sound of a well tweaked, supercharged Chevy V8 chucking out well over 1000 HP at full chat and literally shaking the ground is something to behold - obviously it still doesn't compare with a Merlin on full song but pretty awesome none the less!
Pics. soon - I hope
Mark
