I admire the enterprise even if the bottom end does lack something in the way of elegance. How about this:-

sure if the delightfully graffiti'd (questionable use of apostrophe) school desk is structural ;-)

more project than bike! Still, it might be a cheap way of getting hold of a T35 Douglas. Wonder what the gearbox is - might be worth more than we think .................

I have a T35 engine here looking for a new home, ex WW2 genset.

Does it go? They have a reputation for poor starting

Not to my knowledge, I bought it as a project, got started, and ran out of round tuits. The story so far :- Removed one head and barrel, found to be dry but cleaned, oiled and re-assembled easily. This freed up the engine, the other one should probably be tackled. Lashed up a coke bottle tank (it has no tank) and tried to start. The carb lid is stuck - suspect corrosion so probably needs a good soak in plusgas or similar. Removed magneto, noted that it can be incorrectly installed and was 180 out. I then stripped the magneto for a good cleanup and at this point ran out of time due to an increase in workload caring for her indoors. I will reassemle the magneto and show the buyer the trick of putting it on correctly.

IOW - it should be an easy project but the carb needs work and the magneto may need further attention such as remagnetising which is the usual reason for poor starting. There is no cowling but this will not be a cooling issue running on no load for display etc.

Reasonable offers ?

We are moving into an accessible care flat next week so I am running out of space for engines and bikes. I have rented an extra lockup garage for temporary storage but it looks like I may end up disposing of all my bike and engine stuff.

Also available :- Douglas SV540 in nice working condition on a trolley. Working Petter petrol/parafin genset, Canadian 12 volt ferrous nag also in GWO - you have seen all of these.

2003 GS 500 with only 3500 miles - lovely example 1978 Honda 400/4 - very tidy. Both bikes T&T ready to ride away.
