Insurance

My house contents insurance is due for renewal soon so I must do a bit of ringing around for quotes. However, any mention of engines will probably produce the usual perplexed response which leads to one to give up and hope that the standard 'contents of garages and out-buildings' cover will suffice. Anybody had particularly good or bad experiences in this respect with specific insurers that they would care to share?

You could try:

Walker Midgley -

I'm not sure that they do the whole house and contents bit but they certainly specialise in engines, workshops/tools, trailers and personal indemnity insurance for the rally field.

Usual disclaimer but I found them to be more cost effective than adding the aforementioned to the household insurance with companies that had no concept of the risks involved (and therefore charged accordingly!)

That's two votes for Walker Midgley then (one off-list). I'll give them a go.

W M get my vote as well. we even have the trailers insured with them it only costs a 20 or so quid a year and you can cover multiple items on one policy and spread the cover on each item as its worth.

Certainly quick at getting a proposal form out, the difficult bit is valuations of course - perhaps an SEM price guide isn't such a bad idea after all ;-)
