Workshop insurance

I recently received my household insurance renewal and as you do,

looked around for a cheaper quote.

What surprised me was that most insurance companies limit the content cover in garages and outbuildings to an amount which is considerabl less than the value of my workshop equipment.

Another thing that followed this was if any work is done for 'gain then workshop equipment will not be covered under a household policy.

I found a couple of companies that gave cover up to £5,000.00 but eve that is a bit on the low side.

I know it's boring but it might be worth checking your househol contents insurance to ensure your workshop is covered.

Good information, thanks.

I'd better check my policy.

You could be better taking out a policy just for your workshop. Walker Midgley is the first I would look at.
