Old Sodbury's sort out

Who's going? I want to go but i'll only be able to take my car with me which means if I buy anything I won't be able to take it back. I was wondering if anyone near me is going with a trailer or some other means of bringing stuff back that I could share. :)

Me, I'm going. Not taking a trailer though. I reckon its the only foolproof way of not having a very large engine follow me home just because I bought it!

Seriously, Chris, you can always take the back seats out and leave them at home and most people will reluctantly take it home again if you've bought it but can't haul it away. Then you can pick it up "next week"..............

Shall we all wear badges with NEWSGROUP and our names on, or are we all hiding from each other again?

I bet I'm poorer next week at this time ;o))

Kim, I have a 1.1l Fiesta, I don't think it's capable of hauling much rusty metal. :))

If it was i'd have a go at going to pick up that Petter myself.

I'm up for wearing a badge, I wouldn't mind meeting you all so I can scrounge trailer space ;)

I'll be there but also car bound (W. London is a long way from Cornwall anyway).

We might come down with the van, leaves us with a ton or more capacity.

OR if you are really serious, we can bring the trailer as well..... :-))

I'll be there with trailer but its already full for the return journey. This must be PT-E's cue for the tale of hauling an 8hp Atomic over the Hardknot (sp?)Pass with an 1100 Citroen :-) ttfn Roland

I've never been.

Which is a bit shameful really, as I live within cycling range of it. Mind you, that would stop me buying something I can't afford too 8-)

Judging by this experience I would be quite happy to tow a brace of Hired Men behind a Fiesta 1100. The youth of today, no sense of adventure :-)))

I see there is also a motorcycle jumble at the racecourse that morning.

Splendid. Means I don't wait for Sodbury to open for hours with nothing to do! Just means an even bigger trailer ....

If anyone cares, at the Sodbury Sort out I'll be wearing a "Conference Patch" with a picture of a Merlin engine overlaid with "Stationary Engine Newsgroup" and my name ;o))

All done.Loaded up and ready to go.Only 570 miles and we'll be in Newbury for the sortout on Saturday, then it's back up to Congleton for a rally on Sunday. The better half is not too chuffed that I have a Wolseley WD II strapped in to the back of the new car for the rally on Sunday but I pointed out that a newly restored engine was alot cleaner than the bags of stuff she loads in at the garden centre so an uneasy truce has prevailed. If anyone feels like saying hello at any one of the two events I'll be only too happy to say hello back. At sodbury I will be wearing my "Wild and Woolseley Scotsman" T shirt. At the rally at Congleton I will be the one with the mechanically restored but not painted WD II Wolseley with the for sale notice on it.Finally I hope you all find what you are looking for at sodbury, but I would guess most of you will be like me and not find the crucial bit but still manage to give the shock absorbers something to think about on the way home.

Hi Dave For your benefit and anyone else who may be interested the new venue is at Heaton House Farm,Rushton Spencer. From the map I see that Rushton Spencer is on the A523 east of Congleton but I am not sure of the exact location of the farm.Hope this answers your question.

Hell, it must be a good event if you're willing to travel that far for it!

Nothing like it Chris, just turning this off now and getting in the car.

See some of you later.
