Having had a quick flick through the manual, the engine really is a thing of unimaginable crudity for the 1980's (and I don't suppose the current ones are any different). For instance one is expected to remove the rocker cover after every 8 hours of operation to lubricate the rockers with an oil can - no wonder Perkins thought better of marketing these horrors in UK! The manual is also full of the usual dodgy translations most are obvious eg, the cowls round the cylinder are termed 'wind guides', but one has me foxed - during overhaul, the user is advised to clean the injector nozzle with a chip dipped in fuel!?
