Bachmann 158, Dummy Coupler Removal????

I'm after fitting some Kadee couplings to the outer ends of my Bachmann 158, But can anyone tell me how involved it is? Do the Dummy couplings just pull out (so they can be saved) or do I need to cut them off the chassis, After a long search to find a Northern Spirit 158 I don't want to wreck it by being to heavy handed.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Regards

Cut the dummy coupler so that it leaves its mounting spigot in the underside of the chassis - this is proud on the metal chassis of the power car. Drill to fit a self-tapping screw for a Number 5 coupler and fit through the end spoiler. On the trailer car some packing will be necessary as there is no protrusion as on the metal powered chassis. You should find the No 5s are then at the correct height and setting to clear the gangway on the front.

Easier than it sounds.
