Why do they have two separate lines "Branchline" and "Blue Riband"?

Is one older or inferior to the other?

Thanx.

The Blue Riband line is supposedly superior quality - more and/or better details, better mechs.

Yes, started as Branchline some of which were inherited from Mainline. Introduced Blue Riband to indicate a step up in quality. Mostly true but some wagons have been upgraded by fitting a new chassis when the body is poor. An example is the LMS 12T van. Keith
