Dcc Controllers

Hi there, I have a Roco Multimaus, but am looking to upgrade to a system that will consist, the question is what systems if any will allow me to use my multimaus as a slave control if needed? I am looking at the NCE power cab and the Guagemaster Prodigy Advance Square as a price guide, or could I use another hand held system and plug it into my current system? thanks for any advice you can give, Phil

Roco Loco Maus uses the Lenz bus. So, you could plug it into a Lenz system as a handset. I think ZTC also use Lenz communications bus, though I am not certain that they implement all of its features.

It won't work with other makers, such as Gaugemaster, nor with the other "established" bus, which is the Digitrax one.

Does the newer Roco "MultiMaus" do what you require ?

( Personal view, handsets to control trains which look like a bad TV/VCR remote control are a bad thing).

Have now gone for a NCE Power cab, but have found that it will hold 2 engines in memory when an engine with sound and/or lights switched on is left to idle when you call it up again it resets and you have to start again, very annoying as with sound engines you have to wait for it to restart before moving it, any answers?? would the smart booster help this or would i have to go power cab pro? very expensive as other systems i have tried just leave these things on untill you switch them off

any ideas?????? Phil

May get an answer on the Yahoo "DCCUK" group (which is a mailing list). There are several NCE owner/enthusiast/dealers on there who may know the answer.

( and yes, I agree ideally it shouldn't do it, but whether its fixable, I wouldn't know.).

Good luck, if they are a really good dealer they will dig for an answer.

asking there.

Guesswork time - I wonder if a Decoder CV setting will change things (equivalent of "leave motor running"), or whether the NCE is issuing a "start from boot, including all sound" instruction because it is limited to only controlling two locos at a time ?
