3ft Gauge at Marland, 2ft gauge at Meeth.
Up until the mid 1920's the 3ft Gauge Marland Railway ran into Torrington Station in almost the reverse situation of the Idea above. Tunnel like entrance into Torrington for the clay line. Its route was incorporated into the Torrington Halwill line opened in 1925 and the
3ft retrenched to the Clay Mine area where it remained in use until 1970 ish. A long out of print book called North Devon Clay is a History of the Line and Mines. Later publication of a few years ago called Lines to Torrington has lot of information and pictures as well.Plenty of scope for some " what might have been" with enough real circumstances to make it look right and not contrived.
