Traction Magazine?

I've not been able to get the above mag from WH Smiths for a couple of months now, does anyone know if it's still in print?

I've just purchased Mays edition from my local branch of Martins, so it's still out there!

...and available from WHS in Lancaster and Preston at least! Where are you from, Clive?

Cheers, John.

West Cumbria, and my local WHS has got me a magazine called Television for 25+years but seems to be having problems with Traction.

There was some talk a while back of Smith's cutting back on specialist magazines (presumably to give more shelf space to 'lad's mags')- the titles to be kept were to be determined regionally, IIRC, but then they devolved the authority to individual managers. As to the problems in Australia- I had heard somewhere of a fire at the importer's warehouse. Brian

Just spotted this topic.

As an independent newsagent i can say definitely that Traction mag is still published.

However WHSmiths have now completed a range review and cut back to the top 200 selling titles only and stores are only allowed to choose approved titles from the list.

Although why anyone would want to go there instead of their friendly local newsagents is beyond me!!! ;)

I think they want you to take out a subscription.

Hang on a mo'.

I seem to recall hearing over and over again from the big businesses that these self-same big businesses squeezing the pips out of small businesses until the small businesses close is for reasons of the big businesses' greater choice of merchandise and lower prices? Most curious.

Having hived out their greeting card merchandising to third parties who do all the practical work while WH Smug still make a big fat profit, they are now starting on the reduction of product range.

Damn that. I shall complain to their wholesaler, which still operates within one of the few restrictive practices allowed in England. Oh sod it, that's WH Smug too.
