Thank you. Courtney Thomas

Lincoln's "Arc Welding Instruction for the Beginner" is excellent for stick welding. It is based on one electrode (6010, can substitute
6011) and polarity (EP) and size (1/8"). It focuses on watching the puddle, whipping, weaving, fillet and butt welding in all positions, including over-head. You will burn a lot of electrodes and use a lot of plate steel (there is a section on oxy-acetylene cutting to maximize the use of a plate). If you follow it closely, which is easy to do because it is a simple book, you will be very confident in your stick welding. It is hard-bound and costs $5 from Lincoln's website. John
I'm a fan of "Modern Welding". Very through. Search for it on Amazon.
The little JFLF book is great, too.
