Not worth the bother. ie, theroretically possible, but it's easier/cheaper to buy one, or to start from scratch with a motor and a low-voltage alternator (there's a link or two to those designs which shows up here regularly and can be found by searching in dejanews).
Or just get a MIG or buzzbox that's small enough to plug into it un-modified.
