Crack repair?

--On this page, the third photo down shows the problem. The casting is made of bronze so I'm thinking silver solder, or would it be better to braze it? What I don't want to do is get it so hot that I damage the geometry of the machined surfaces inside the valve.

My personal preference for this repair would be a Sil-Phos alloy available at

TIG braze weld using sil-phos-bronze. V out the crack with a die grinder and fill it in.

I will defer to Ernie on the repair method, of course. The cap/hinge piece looks like it holds packing material and doesn't have any precision machined surfaces. As long as it is disassembled completely there shouldn't be a problm.

Cheers,
