Millermatic 35?

Ive the opportunity to get a blackfaced Millermatic 35, newer gun, its claimed it works well. IIll test drive it before making the deal)

Guy wants to trade it for a couple hours machine repair and 100 miles of travel.

Is the Millermatic 35 a decent enough machine? My elderly Dan-Mig is getting a bit tired and long in the tooth. General utility welding around the homestead, lots of rusty steel. Mostly Co2 gas with .035 wire.

Those are great old machines. Simple and solid. Same era as the Hobart Betamig 200. Mostly a multi-tap transformer in a box.

Same output range as a new Millermatic 252.

Lots of them were around in the period of 1982 to 1994 when I bought and owned a new Millermatic 200. Lots of wrought iron shops used them exclusively. (wrought iron as in ornamental metal tubing, not forge wrought iron) If it's all there and running, and doesn't have huge wear grooves in the rollers, it will probably last a long time. First thing I'd do, though, is inspect the contact points when I got it home. An easy inexpensive fix that will keep it running another ten years or more.

Does the manual address how to do this?
