Preventing stainless from shrinking with tig-welding.

Hi guys I am tig-welding som rectangular tubes together in angels, but very often the material tend to shrink around the weld due to the heat so the angel is no longer correct and I will have to pull it in place. The dimensions of the material is 1.2mm and i usually have the amps on 38A and do not always supply ekstra material. What am I doing wrong, how do I prevent the material from bending way too much.

Stainless steel is very prone to heat distortion. To prevent as much distortion as possible, : Preheat your pieces to about 300degF Weld in short stitches with as low an amperage as possible Clamp parts in a rigid jig while cooling.

Put the parts together at a few degrees off of what you actually want and let the distortion occur so they cool to the proper angle. It is mearly an experienced/educated guess as to how far they will pull.
