Syphon tube CO2 tank

Can a 10# CO2 SYPHON equipped tank be used inverted, (valve down) for MIG welding? I do not believe the flowmeter regulator I will be using is compatible with liquid CO2.



The maximum flow I will be extracting will be about 20 cfh.



The tank complete with 9.5 pounds of CO2 was a freebie. I sure would hate to dump all that evil green house gas to remove the syphon tube.

I don't see why not. You may have to release a little at first to get past the liquid, especially with higher flow rates which will tend to carry in the liquid. My experience has been in reverse of what you are doing. We use siphon bottles for our quick cool Associated test chambers and our supplier is constantly giving us tanks with broken or non existent tubes. The 50 lb bottles cool at first and then stop at around

40lbs. I suggest you invert the bottle without a regulator and crack open the tank valve until it flows at the what you think is the rate you will be flowing. When it stops misting frost you should be low enough to install your regulator.
