Hello everybody,
I just wanted to give back a little advice or my own opinion. The other day I was looking though Forming & Fabricating Magazine and saw a ad for the Walters Surfox weld cleaning system. And At the bottom it said free demo. So I called, and no problem the area sales rep called me back and said he would be here on Monday (yesterday) . They say this thing cleans and passivates Stainless Steel. Well it does. I don't know about the passivating part that much but it sure does clean a weld up without damage to the grain on the stainless. I love it. It does exactly what they said it does. We do allot a Stainless Steel weld and they have to look pretty. Not so much structural as cosmetic. Electrical boxes, brackets for switches, and stuff like that. We do control panels and nameplates and custom enclosures. Mostly for the oil industries. I have tried pickling paste but after just a few seconds the welds are clean and shiny but the grain is gone. It is very hard to sit there with scotch bite and clean up after the pickling paste. So any of you that have to do allot of stainless steel welding might want to take a look at it. Its not to cheap around $2,000 us, but it sure is going pay for its self with the time you save.
thanks for the advice ya'll have given.
