foam vs paint

I just bought a skypro II and want to paint it, but I don't know what to use, the local hobby shop told me to use brush on paint that looks like crap... Any ideas?

Cover it in solite (litefilm) first and paint that. Needs scuffing up a little tho to get adhesion.

Much better.

Use a latex or water base paint. The water base paints will not react with the foam and they will not soak in either. The best results will come from spraying. Use several light coats.

I used Testors spray, available in most hobby stores, on depron styro. It might also work for the Skypro. On the can is says to test it first when using on foam.
