Seems to me that some people would like them to be a game, but it depends on how you use the sim. I use it as a trainer, and I am more than satisfied with it. I soloed after one flight because of the sim. The sim I have is Real Fight 3.0 which upgrades to 3.5 via a free internet download. The price of 3.5 is dropping right now, because Great Planes is introducing version

Of course, there are other simulators out there, and I've tried a couple of others. I like Real Flight, but your mileage may vary.
