HobbyZone Fighterbird question

My Fighterbird has taken to a new problem. Past two flights, it starts off OK flies just fine for 5 - 7 minutes and then goes into a Death Spiral(tm) dive heading nose-to-the-ground and spinning (right one time and left the other). The last time I was able to recover from the Death Spiral(tm) with hard right rudder and no power, but only long enough to fly straight into a nearby tall solid object. I did not have the opportunity to see if flight would stabilize as I managed to break the wing on impact.

Any ideas? Anyone else see this kind of behavior from a Fighterbird or other similar plane?

I have had very similar flights with my Firebird 2...after many attempted days of flying, I have had one good one, which lasted maybe 5 minutes. I purchased this aircraft thinking that it would help my son learn the basics, but have found it useless. The response, compared to my regular glow r/c plane is nil, you must be way ahead of this aircraft, which is just the opposite of what I expected from something that 'can be driven like an r/c car'... I'm going to purchase a park flyer that has at least 3 channels to help my son in his training, and shelve the Firebird.

Sounds like a rearward CG.

I'll check that. I did just recently replace the tail (no good runways to land on here... those tumbleweeds are rough on the foam)

Thanks
