This is my experience with a Megatech Helichopper.
The unit was purchased Nov 20. I took the unit home and charged the batteries according to the instructions. The instructions said to charge the batteries and then run the helicopter while hoding it to discharge the batteries. This is to be done twice before flying to allow the battery to charge properly. After the first charge I ran the helicopter as instructed. The run time was
15 seconds. After the second charge the helicopter ran for 15 seconds and then the motor started cycling on and off about every two seconds. It would stop for a fraction of a second and then start up. Total run time about 2 minutes. After trying this about 5 times I gave up and emailed megatech asking if there was a fix for this problem. The reply was "send it in and we'll look at it". Sending it to megatech was out of the question since I live in Canada and it would be less expensive to buy another helicopter than pay shipping both ways to megatech. On Nov 22 I took it back to Radio Shack and exchanged it for another unit.
This new helicopter made the other unit look good. I charged the batteries and turned on the helicopter to do the discharge cycle. After 10 seconds the tail rotor stopped. After a further 20 seconds the main rotor came off and went flying across the room.
Radio Shack gave me a refund for the defective helicopter.
Maybe these 2 helicopters were the only defective ones made by megatech but I will be sure to avoid megatech stuff from now on.
