District V's VP, Jim McNeill's "Club of the Month" award went to the Ocala Flying Model Club today. As he pointed to the flag, he made a point of telling me "This is going to get me elected again."
He must not have a very high opinion of the OFMC members if he thinks he can buy their vote with something he gives to every club he visits.
His presence was reinforced with a retinue of THREE of his loyal AVPs. One wonders why he would waste his travel budget when he had 3 AVPs attending also.
The turn out was way below normal, with only 27 pilots signed up.With such a great flying site and well run meet we were at a loss to figure out why. Gas prices, mother's day weekend, one day event, IMAA membership down???? I certainly wasn't because the way they run their meets, some of the best I've ever attended and the weather was perfect.
