With warmer weather I'm finally gearing up to brave the great outdoors. Last I flew with my Roadkill Curtis Pusher (electric) in the fall, all worked well. First time out a few days ago, I found I had no elevator control (Channel 2 per Futaba). Rudder control was fine, using ch. 1. No binding exists in the elevator control linkage.
I have extra components which I used to arrive at a possible conclusion. For testing, I used a Li-Poly 2S 250 mah battery and two different receivers, both Berg5-*DSPII, and two Hitec HS-81 servos, same ESC in both cases (Throttle works fine). I also tried the components in my electric Push-E Cat (NiCd batteries), so three sets of servos, receivers, and two different ESC's, all with the same results.
I initially plugged both servos, the Curtis' and new servo, one at a time, into the appropriate receiver pins using both receivers, one at a time - first into channel 2, the elevator channel, then into the rudder channel (Ch 4, on the throttle control) as a check.
On ch. 2, elevator channel, no servo action took place while "twiddling" the right stick - but an internal, continuous vibration was taking place. Moving to ch. 4, same result, no servo motion on the channel normally used for rudder control, on the throttle (left) stick - but the servo was vibrating internally - no motion externally. A final test using the 'Cat also showed no operation with the xmitter's elevator stick.
The above would seem to exonerate all components but the xmitter's elevator control channel, assuming the new, unused servo and both receivers, one used in the plane and the other new and unused, plus the 'Cat's components were not faulty. If anyone has any ideas for further testing, maybe resetting the xmitter back to it's "as received" condition, or some programming error on my part as the cause, please let me know - I don't want to return the xmitter for repair unless I can be relatively sure it's the culprit.
