Twins : GP 9-38, Morris Pinwheel, Etc.

I am wondering if somebody has experience with the Great Planes P-38 Profile kit and it's flight handling. And the same question goes out to the Morris Hobbies twin fun fly plane. Your suggestions are appreciated. Ted

Grrrrr!

Let me vent...

I have been working on the P-38 Profile for the last month. I got it thinking it would go together faster than a framed version. Not!!!. Mostly my own fault for not throwing away the cheesy pieces of 1/16 sheet balsa that came with the kit. After poking my finger through the profile booms 16 times while handling / attempting to cover the model, I gave up in disgust tonight. The assembled plane is like trying to handle a five pointed devil's pentagram. Every tip (and there are five of them) stick out to catch you like a fish hook as you walk by the bench The damn thing collects multiple hangar rashes like a horse barn collects flies. Covering the booms is such a hassle that I have put it off for the last three weeks. I also spent a lot of time putting Bondo on the vacuum formed plastic center pod. The parts do not match up well, and it takes a lot of wet sanding to feather the joint out.

I have covered plenty of models that were harder than this, but I expected an easier time for a "short-cut" type model. If you dropped by my shop an hour ago I would have given it to you to get it out of my hair. I have plenty of scale models to build that take as long, or longer to build, but at least they have all the detail. This one was supposed to be a vacation from scale detail, and fast to get out to the field.

It is not all that bad of a model, it is just not a real fast builder like I thought it would be.
