The SolidWorks Devolution

OK Jon, proof you can't answer a simple question to support your claims.

Here is another simple one:

Why won't your company let you use one of the 100+ seats of ProE so you can alter the engineering departments models as Native Files rather than importing them into SolidWorks as non-native?

Jon,

OK, you couldn't answer that one lets try another:

A little background;

You say you have to change your engineering departments models in order to make them "manufacturable". You also stated they have NEVER asked you to preserve their design intent while you are mauling their models.

Here comes the question;

What is your engineering department doing with their 100+ seats of ProE while you are hacking and whacking at their models with SolidWorks?

OK, you couldn't answer that one either so lets try another;

[ This SolidWorks Devolution will last as long as companies like SpaceClaim, Siemens and PTC (CoCreate) continue to do a lousy job marketing their ?Direct Modeling? products. ] Jon Banquer Devolution blob

How exactly is Siemens doing a lousy job marketing?

OK, lets try again;

Siemens seemed to do a great job marketing ST. They created quite a buzz prior to their ST announcement. They created quite a buzz during and after the announcement of ST. They got you and others to buy into it lock stock and barrel with nothing more than glossy adds, new buzzwords and a few canned demos.

If you read what REAL NX-ST users and CAD experts have to say, it's what was delivered that doesn't match the marketing hype NOT the other way around. Even YOU JON, even you said YOU are using NX-ST and can't/don't use ST but here you are still parroting their glossy ads, new buzzwords and marketing hype.

Now here comes the hard part for you;

Explain HOW Siemens is doing a lousy job marketing?

Jon,

OK, that didn't work, lets try another simple question for you.

[ Why don?t you see lots of complaints about remodeling non-native solids or remodeling other peoples parts?

I'm a CNC machinist/CNC programmer and it's quite common for us to be asked or just expected to modify customers files to help make them manufacturable/ manufacturable at a more reasonable cost. ] -Jon Banquer-

Why would YOU, a "self proclaimed prototype machinist" in a company with an engineering department, 100+ seats of ProE be asked to model a customers part let alone remodel one for one of your "customers" parts using SolidWorks?

Jon,

Ok another simple question you can't answer. For a blogger with the self proclaimed "Most CAM Centric" blog on the net, you sure have difficulty answering simple direct questions.

Lets try an even simpler one.

Background;

Your 100+ ProE seat engineering department exports IGES files for you to import into MasterCAM where you are supposed to apply tool path. The IGES files according to you import just fine, no problems. Now a change needs to be made and you say you are importing them into SolidWorks to make the changes. You also say you are having difficulty making changes and understanding design intent with these "non-native" solids.

Now here comes the question;

Why not use just one of the 100+ seats of ProE you say your company has, you know, where the models are native?

Ok, see you still can't answer a simple CAD/CAM topic covered in your blob.

Lets try another simple one;

NX-ST marketing hype and glossy ads proclaimed it was up to 100X faster than their competitors.

Have you been able to substantiate this claim?

(Watching canned demos don't count.)
