Hi,
I have a powerful battery charger and it smokes :) Brand: Sol or Solar. type 670 They don't make them nymore and I couldn't get info from that end. I opened it and checked what I could. Input 110 volts AC, output 6,12,24 volts DC. The "transformer" delivers the 6,12,24 volts in AC to two round ,by now medium rare, things on a steel plate. ( I checked the voltage and it is as promised, 6,12 or 24 Volts.) As far as I can figure out they have to turn the power in DC by allowing only one part of the power through. (vaguely, sinus curve etc)What would cause the temperature increase, what are those things called. Bigger ones would be better ? Or is there something else wrong? I can check voltage and electrical resistance, but when you have no idea what is should be any value will do :)
Is there any hope or is this an other hopeless case.
Any info welcome
Thanks Richard
