Hey Fellow Engineers,
Anyone know if there is some easy way to get Access or SQL Server to work with PLCs? Is there some kind of macro or ActiveX control where I can just query the PLC for data and log it to Access or SQL Server?
(I know this is not exactly electrical engineering but no one else seems to know anything about PLCs and databases)

You can run a scada / hmi software package on the pc that will directly log to access or sql. You can select time intervals or trigger points and much more. What type of plc are you using? You can log thousands of points at different intervals.
Different types: GE Cimplicity, AB RSView, Wonderware, Fix32 to name a few. These will also generate reports, graphs and much more.
