Im trying to build a cell phone from scratch (for research and experience), but Im having trouble figuring out how to build a cell phone receiver!
I am looking for any good reference that you may know of that can shed some light on how to build the cell phone receiver peice of the cell phone...
I can use any other help that you are willing to offer.

How much experience do you have in the design of UHF radio receivers?
not much. But Im all for doing the research. Can you expand a bit?
how much communications electronics have you studied? can you describe all the stages of a superheterodyne receiver?
some of the ARRL publications may help such as the vhf/uhf handbook
You'll want to use lots and lots of 6SN7s - they save a lot of space because there's two triodes in one envelope.
