you're correct Joe. ray would be a lot more successful if he would bite the bullet and admit his faults. It really puzzles me that he doesn't have the common since to realize that and make an honest effort to change things. I really don't believe that he will do anything about it. although, after all his abusive crap. I don't believe that he could do anything to change my feelings about him.

Possibly not. But how he handles folks like you does have some effect on how comfortable other folks are going to be in dealing with him. If he can put himself across as becoming the more reasonable party to the disputes, he wins.

But that's not easy given the baggage. Determined calm and patience, and a real effort to "make good".

As I say: I think he could turn this around w/r/t the industry as a whole. But it's going to take full-scale rescue-the-business mode. He need to move from the "old grump" image to being one of the *most* responsive, and least defensive, on customer support. I'm not sure he wants to go there; it's a painful place to be. On the other hand, if he doesn't I think he might be best off shedding the baggage by starting an entirely new product line.

Yep. The idea was that Steve & Co. would provide end-user support, handling the first level and second level calls and calling Ray themselves on behalf of the customers when they hit something that required the three-banana level.

If Ray'd arranged for that earlier -- and possibly contracted them to handle support calls from _all_ users -- he might be in better shape now.

Too much water under the damn dam.

its amazing why Steve would have anything to do with that jerk in the first place. ray couldn't pay me enough to say anything positive about such a negative person.

When you buy softwafe you essentially buy a package of software, future updates and, customer support. If any of the three are seriously lacking IMHO the product isn't worth bothering with.

I also believe that any software is no better than the customer support. especially in rays case ! its just like that jerk to come here, stir up things and then not respond. personally I don't give a crap if the jerk never returns !

The ONLY thing he did by coming here is create a big stink and bring attention to the fact that everybody hates his attitude and that nobody wants to deal with him.

I'm glad I found out about his crappy attitude before I bought his code softwere back in 99 which I almost did but instead I went with another product that works great and I dont listen to a bunch of crap over the phone. Wooh! What a near miss that was.

If he has any brain at all he should keep his mouth shut and fly away because all he's getting out of coming here is a thinner wallet.
