Keyman:

For years (About 25-30) I was a Trescrap user. That is till he wouldn't give me any help moving some of his HIDDEN customer files from laptop to desktop. I had a computer problem & had to reinstall masterkey, loosing all former records. But, laptop had all of them. All I asked for was support to fing which file contained those files containing customer data.

No help from him, other than an e-mail stating it can not be done w/out causing problems to the program!

Bullshit!

Dropped ALL of his programs and went with Blackhawk. Much better program AND support!!!!

Please don't do that with ANY of our programs. These are relational data base programs which means that the information in one file cross references with information from one or more other files. Those other files interact with yet others. All of the files you need are in the same directory. Using a zip program you can copy everything very easily so there is no need to run the risk of mis-matching files from one computer to the next. Please do not write again on this subject. The pick-and-choose file copying that you want to do is a no-no and that applies to ALL of our programs, regardless of title. Ray

Can you tell me what file on Master Key contains the customer files?

As Nazzaro has said in a phone message, "I have all the E-Mail that you sent me concerning this matter & will use it in a lawsuit if you do not say something kind about my product on that newsgroupe"!

Hey Ray, I'll post the rest of your "HELPFULL" E-Mails.

What's your point? When you asked this question originally I told you how to move Advantage files. There was no reason to check and see if you actually purchased the program. But when you wrote and mentioned Advantage authorization, and a non-existent directory, I needed to see how old your Advantage was. That's when I discovered that, according to our records, you don't have Advantage. Please don't misunderstand. I am not calling you a crook. I am simply saying I think you are probably confusing Advantage with something else! Once again, Advantage does not use authorization and you never purchased a copy anyway! That's the most likely reason why you can't find the silly thing on your computer!!! Ray

Ray:

My first question was how to pull the customer files from laptop to here.

Your answer was to copy c:\advant!

Copy everything from the C:\ADVANT directory. Do NOT pick and choose files as this will surely lead to problems.

Hello William, I think you may be confusing Advantage with some other program. To begin with Advantage doesn't not use authorizations. What's more, looking back at all your purchases since 1993, I don't see any purchase for Advantage from you. That would probably explain why it's not on your computer. The Advantage is an inventory and invoicing software that keeps track of all your customers and their purchases. The program sells for 79.95 and you can download a demo at

There is no arrogance in any of these replies, Mr. Keyman. Newns originally asked how to copy "Advantage" (inventory and invoicing) files and was frustrated because he, and three of his associates, could not find them on his computer. After several emails we ironed out that he actually meant files for his master keying program instead.

Again and again we told him that he needed to copy everything from the C:\mastrkey directory from the old computer to the C:\mastrkey folder on the new computer. But he refused to do that. Instead he wanted to pick and choose certain files which you can not do since all files are tied together in a relational way. We still have no clue why he wanted to take just some of the files, nor would he explain.

Anyway the solution is simple, you copy everything.

What could be simpler than that? Jeeze, and the folks here at Treskat always thought that Keyman was the ultimate knucklehead! Now it looks like Newns may be running a close second. Watch it Mr. Keyman, your in danger of losing your position as head clown.

LOOK at the heading of thge e-mail asking for info on copying files from your MK program, NOT ADVANTAGE.

Maybe you'd better read those SAVED e-mails, before shooting off your big mouth!

Nothing he said was libelous. He's merely dissatisfied with Trescrap....I mean cat customer service. If you want to sue everyone who feels that way you are going to be very busy judging from this and other forums. I had no strong opinion until now. Howver your unprofessionalism here serves to confirm what others have long said about Trescrap...damn...did it again Trescat.

I don't think most people who try his software stay long. Most people I've talked to in my state association have the same low opinion of him and his company. Doesn't take him long to educate the masses. Go somewhere else!

I'd like EVERYBODY that's had a saddening experience with nazzaro via phone or e-mail to post here. Maybe he'll realize that he's the class clown & get off here.

Or better yet, find someone that would give proper support and can read an e0-mail heading w/o cursing you out or calling you a thief.

I had heard that Steve Young (Tech Train) was trying to sell his programs.

He probably even can't get support.

Unfortunately, a reputation is hard to live down... and responding emotionally to people baiting you, even if they are out of line, tends to reinforce that reputation.

From everything I've heard, the Treskat software works reasonably well, but (a) its copyprotection was causing confusion, (b) its customer support was somewhat lacking (there was an ad, from Tech-Train I think, which basically said "we like it, we sell it, but Ray's an old grump so buy it from us and we'll provide the end-user support so you don't have to deal with him directly"), and (c) there's a lot of competition out there these days which may be much more resource-hungry but doesn't have those particular problems.

Ray, I honestly think your best best at this point is to work with someone like Tech-Train and let them be the public face of the company... and to develop some formulation of "I'm sorry about your past experiences, we're working to make sure that doesn't happen again" rather than letting folks push you into defensiveness and snapping back. You've dug an interesting hole here, and I honestly do wish you luck in climbing out of it... but the first step is going to be realizing that what went wrong really was as much as matter of style as substance, and finding a way to polish that style.

Seriously, best wishes... but I think you're going to need them.
