Learn FEA and any fluid flow/dynamics software you can find. Also I think SolidWorks and Pro/E are more likely to be used in more progressive companies than AutoCAD, and the use of IDEAS is becoming dowright rare nowadays. Even AutoDesk's Inventor is more common than IDEAS.
