Watched it last week - or tried to.
Would have been fine as a 1 hour show.
Boring as all get-out for two hours.
I don't understand why they say this operation was such a mystery back in 1968. Everyone said the cover story was just BS. It's just that the Russians couldn't believe the US had found the sub.

Well, I didn't think so. As an exercise in raw engineering talent, I thought it was a totally amazing tale. Sort of like going to the moon, except doing it on a 4 year deadline.
The floating gimbal mechanism and its associated air cushioning to stabilize the drill pipe was incredible along with all the control systems engineering. This stuff is very difficult to do....particularly on a scale like that. Dave
