Bore sizes for automotive pulleys

Oct 04, 2009 0 Replies

I bought a generator head and engine from someone who planned on making a generator set for those times when the electrical power is out. And I plan on finishing the project. However the seller had misplaced the pulley for the generator. ( it is designed for belt drive ) And the generator shaft is 24 mm. I can get a pulley and taper hub from WW Grainger, but thought it might be cheaper to get a pulley at the auto wrecking yard. Before I take calipers in hand and wander thru some wrecking yards, I thought I would ask the group if

24mm is a common size for the bore of crankshaft pulleys.

Lovejoy couplings would be cheaper, but I would like to run the engine at less than 3600 rpm.
