Tie a few together to make a voodoo doll of someone she hates. Nail to to a 2x4 and teach her how to work an acetylene torch. Cap a piece of iron pipe, tap a hole in the cap for a spark plug, put in a teaspoon (or less) of gas, stuff in a tampon, shake it a bit and spark it! Perhaps just dip the tampon in a bit of gas before stuffing--flaming tampon missile. I'd put a second, larger pipe around the contraption in case it pops a seam. Combine the two--fire flaming tampon missiles at the voodoo tampon doll.

Heh. I can recall a couple of occasions spending an hour or so trying to locate that elusive string that had been sucked in....

I also have easy to read blueprints for a spud cannon...if anyone is interested I can email them to you.

Thanks Rob..or is it Cheryl ;0) how about a copy to me... granpaw eye eye at centurytel dot net. Many thanks!
How about a Hallowe'en bonfire made of 2x4 pine cut to 6 inch lengths, stacked in a rick-rack, soaked in charcoal starter, then lit with a safety flare? Not too big, not to small, just about right for a one or two month's supply times a few participants.
Geez, I have been away too long.

Hmmmm. Could add another whole dimension the the barbeque starter bit.
Wanna shake up the neighborhood? Use a 6-foot David and Goliath type sling to throw a small container of oil into the pool. Extends throwing distance quite a bit. You can throw a 4-ounce weight about 200 yards with some practice.
Suggesting a fuel mod. We used to make soldered up cannons from various "tin cans", i.e. coffee, dog good etc. The ignition was by standard automotive spark plug connected to a model "T" coil or a Fairbanks Morse magneto. The fuel was produced by dropping a "pinch" (super accurate scientific term) of calcium carbide into water in the bottom of the contraption. Give it about a minute to react and "mix" with the air present before ignition. Would launch a tennis ball so the first thing you saw was a black speck making its way back to the ground.
No mess such as with hair spray other than the white, chalky water to be poured out when you're finished and no problems with volatilizing when it's a little chilly out. (Think of New Years Eve)

Heck, it's a binaries group. Why not post to the group?

On the contrary, rec.crafts.metalworking (which is the only place I see *this* message, is *not* a binaries group. (I'll later check back up-thread to see whether the previous articles were cross-posted, but your article was not.)
However, the blueprints (or other related binaries) *can* be posted to the dropbox
Good Luck, DoN.
We used to make the same carbide canons. We just punched a nail hole near the rear of a 1 Gal paint can. Pounded on the lid and waited a minute, then touched a match to the nail hole with our foot holding the side of the can down. Carbide used to be sold at the hardware store in the 60s. Not sure where you'd get it today. I think there's a hazmat fee to have it delivered.

******* Remove NOSPAM to reply *******REI used to carry it for headlamps used by backpackers.
The web site says they can ship the calcium carbide by regular mail. It's in a sealed, metal tube, like those used for glue.
The prices are very high on the web site. I don't recall paying anywhere near those prices when I bought my cannon at their Allentown, PA, factory about 8 years ago.
I'm sure that calcium carbide can be found cheaper, but I haven't looked.

For entertainment at your next barbeque, here is a simple lighter fluid canon we used to build by using about 8 coke cans, remove the top and bottom of about 7 coke cans and duct tape them together so they form a barrel, the eigth one on the bottom keep the top complete with top tab hole open and punch a hole in the very bottom of the can, obtain some fairly dense rubber balls that fit loosly into the barrel, squirt a good shot of lighter fluid into the bottom hole and shake the whole thing so that it evapoporizes, drop the ball into the muzzel and apply a lighter to the bottom hole, and voilla, you have lift off. That should read the very bottom on the side! A > and punch a hole in the very bottom of the
