diesel gensets

The sell is one of my secret sources btw . I looked at these last week while in there on other business, and they actually look pretty well made. If you have a long term source of bio-diesel, they become even more attractive.

No idea how well they hold up, etc Pricing is pretty good, given the ending prices.

Gunner What is the price of the genset at your secret source. Also was there any documentation as to fuel consumption and MTBF for the system.

3600 RPM, AIR cooled diesel motor... .I woudl imagine it would self destruct in pretty short order.

That's pretty high revs for a diesel genset

I am saving my pennies for a 7.5 KW Yanmar Diesel genset as I like the 2000 hour MTBF. It costs $1995 FOB. Yanmar diesels have a good reputation in the marine environment and seem to be reliable. The Fuel consumption is 1.8 liters per hour or about a half gallon per hour.

But Gunner, they're made in China. According to you, the Chinese build nothing but junk and steal American jobs. Tsk, tsk.

Oddly enough, the "Yanmar" generators that I've found on various web sites seem to be *exactly* identical to the "Tiger" ones on Reliable's auctions - with the only difference seeming to be the paint job.

I have an older 3 KW Yanmar- it looks very similar to the Tiger. Great generator, I've had it for probably 12 or 13 years- cheap to run, but noisy as hell.

No mystery here- the Chinese unit is a knock-off of the Yanmar. This isn't the first reverse-engineered Yanmar- their single-cylinder marine engine was copied years ago. If you're going to steal a design, steal a good one.

Well, they're definitely made in china. Says so on their web site. That would be a turn-off for me.

Hey, Mr. 225 Quarter guy! Care to 'splain "Exactly identical with differences"? Y'mean "Same make and model with a different color of paint."? ;)

P.S: That's two.

You know this for a fact - that the Yanmar isn't just a re-painted Tiger? The Yanmar machine wasn't *that* much more expensive.

I think at times, ol Carl misses his exchanges with Pete Albrect, and uses me for a replacement.

Ah nobody could replace pete.

But this is serious folks.

I am in the market for a generator, and diesel seems like a nice choice simply because I have about 150 odd gallons around all the time in the fuel oil tank.

But I don't want to reward companies that are sending manufacturing overseas. The yanmar one

*looks* like it was made in china, because of the one-for-one design similarities.

Actually, Pete and I write each other now and then and hopefully business will put us in the same area code someday.

You're no Pete Albrecht.

You have on more than one occasion presented an opinion that Chinese products are garbage and the Chinese are Godless robots bent on world conquest.

You can look up your own posts- I'm a tad busy right now.

Interesting how one's opinion can change....

Im much taller and have a beard. His German is MUCH better than mine. He dresses Newport Beach Yuppie, my belt buckle is about the size of a tombstone. Good observational powers you have there at times.

Ill ask Pete about you the next time we have lunch.

Thats what I thought. Snicker...

Indeed.
