Drill press depth stop

My Delta not-Rockwell drill press has a collar on the down feed spindle that can be rotationally adjusted to set a depth limit. It sucks! (It slips too easily and the hole gets drilled too deeply.) I'm going to retrofit something better and I have a question about another form of stop.

The drill press that Marty has on eBay now:

a stop based upon a threaded rod. See picture #10. Am I right that this form of stop is adjustable by turning the stop nut a 1/4 turn and sliding it? Is the nut in 2 pieces that jam together to stop unintentional movement?

Is there another form of stop that is better?

Thanks, Bob
